The most important thing you could do today is study the Bible with your children
because everything we need to know
for life and godliness is found in God's Word according to 2 Peter 1:3.

Homeschool Bible Lesson Format:

  • Read a portion or chapter of scripture together.
  • Focus on one verse from the reading and write it down.
  • Draw out at least 3 truths (or facts) from the focus verse and write them down.
  • Find 1 or 2 other scriptures that are relevant to the focus verse or to the truths and look them up together. Write the verse’s addresses down with a paraphrase of the verse.
  • Pray by turning the truths list into "help us" or "thank you" prayers.

Use Bible Lesson for Language Lesson:

  • Use the Bible focus verse for handwriting practice.
  • Identify parts of speech, punctuation, contractions, compound words, etc in the verse. (Don't feel compelled to teach everything every single day. Choose only a few grammar elements to focus on knowing they will appear again soon and be reinforced in a future lesson.)
  • Use the focus verse as a writing prompt for sentence/paragraph writing.
  • Make sure the students read their finished writing aloud.
  • Plan ahead and use words from this week's Bible reading to make spelling and vocabulary lists.
