HIGH SCHOOL
Inductive Bible Study – Teacher Created Course (Log 75 hours/semester for High School)
Discuss with your teen what Books of the Bible they would like to study this year.
OR make a study by category (Gospels, Kings, Psalms, Judges, etc) OR study what your Pastor from church is teaching.
The following combination of activities totals approx 75 hours.
Daily Assignment: Inductive Bible Study (20 min)
1. Read a chapter or section of Scripture.
2. Choose one verse to focus on and write it in your Bible Journal.
3. Write down 3 facts (or truths) that are only about that verse.
4. Use a Topical Search to find any supporting verses for your focus verse and/or facts.
5. Turn you list of facts into points of “Help Me” or “Thank You” prayers.
1 hr/wk Additional Assignment: In Depth Study
1. Read a chapter (or a section of a chapter).
2. Re-read the chapter with Bible Commentary.
3. Choose at least 3 interesting notes & jot down in your journal.
(Be sure to include the verse the commentary note goes with and any additional thoughts.)
4. Use a Topical Search to find at least 3 corresponding verses and write a short description of how the verses apply to the reading and/or the commentary.
5. Ask your student to tell you about their study.
2 hr/wk Additional Study: Attend Church & Take Sermon Notes
JR HIGH
(100 minutes/week plus weekly church attendance 2x/wk -- logged hours not required)
Daily Assignment: Inductive Bible Study (20 min)
1. Read a chapter or section of Scripture.
2. Choose one verse to focus on and write it in your Bible Journal.
3. Write down 3 facts (or truths) that are only about that verse.
4. Use a Topical Search to find any supporting verses for your focus verse and/or facts.
5. Turn you list of facts into points of “Help Me” or “Thank You” prayers.
Elementary Grades
Daily Assignment: Inductive Bible Study (20 min)
1. Read a chapter or section of Scripture.
2. Choose one verse to focus on and write it in your Bible Journal.
3. Write down 3 facts (or truths) that are only about that verse.
Younger students may use journals with picture boxes, draw pictures & dictate sentences to parents.
Parents should leave one or two important words for the child to write or copy.
4. Turn you list of facts into points of “Help Me” or “Thank You” prayers and pray together.
