Verse of the Week: Luke 1:38
Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.

Talk About the Reading & the Verse:
How was Mary’s response to the angel different from Zechariah’s response?
What was Mary’s attitude towards the news the angel gave her?
What conclusions can you make about Mary’s character?
Do you view yourself as the Lord’s servant? Why or why not?

Handwriting: Practice writing the verse of the week in cursive or printing. Don’t forget to pay attention to quotation marks & punctuation. You can break the passage up into 3 days of handwriting because there are 3 sentences.

Spelling: List of words to learn how to spell this week: prayer, fulfilled, angel, mother, baby
Practice writing the words every day and writing them in sentences & quiz yourself on Friday.

Grammar: Look at the verse again and discuss the punctuation. Discuss commas before Quotation Marks,   Proper Nouns,   Declarative Sentences

Writing: Think about how the Angel, Gabriel, brought news from heaven to Zechariah & to Mary. Write a few news articles this week. Don’t forget the headline! It can be made up, news, weather, movie review and/or human interest like pet rescues.

History: An amazing and unheard of news headline hit the United States on December 7, 1942. When the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, they destroyed nearly 20 American Ships and over 300 military planes, and that event led America into the path of joining a world war. Learn about the devastation of the bombing and the countries at war in the 1940s.
