Week #1 Creation
Read Genesis Chapter 1-3 this week. (Your child can also read the story here.)
Use the Verse of the Week for Bible, Handwriting, Spelling, and Grammar.
Verse of the Week: Genesis 1:28 Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.”
Talk about the verse: (sample questions)
What does fruitful mean?
What does God want people to do?
What does it mean for people to multiply?
What are some ways we govern the earth?
Handwriting:
Write one part of this verse each day.
Spelling: (from the Verse of the Week) bless, fill, fish, sea, sky, birds
Spelling Activities: write the words 3 times in different colors, spell the words backwards and forwards, write the words in ALL CAPS, write the words in alphabetical order
Grammar: (1 or 2 ideas/day)
Copy an example of each item from the links in your notebook.
A sentence begins with a capital letter and ends with a punctuation mark.
A noun is a person, place, or thing. Identify some nouns from chapter 1. (earth, fish, sea, birds, sky, animals)
Quotation marks show that someone is talking. Who is talking in this verse?
Count the periods and find out how many sentences are in this verse.
Writing:
Describe the fifth day of creation.
Describe a day of rest.
Have you ever created something?
Science: (Jeremiah 29:13 If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me...)
Think about nature and the beginning of life. To integrate Science this week, research on the internet or check out books in your library about nature. Don't forget to write about your favorite part in the Science section of your notebook.
Interesting Books to read this week: Nature Anatomy by Julia Rothman or Unit 8 Big Fat Science Book (not Christian authors)
Interesting Creation topics: Creation, The Garden of Eden, Plants, Amazing Insects, and Humans & Geography
History: (Hebrews 13:7 Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith.)
For History, think about the beginning of our country and read and research about George Washington and the American Revolution. Don't forget to write about your favorite part in the History Section of your notebook.

Say the words out loud with the computer. Write each word in your journal.
