Genesis 6-9 Noah
1. Verse 4 describes something very weird, but this is why mankind needed to be destroyed with a flood. It’s important to remember that Satan is still actively trying to deceive women just like he did with Eve. His goal here is to pollute the genetic “pool” of mankind with a satanic corruption, to put a genetic “virus” to make the human race unfit for bringing forth the Messiah promised by God in Genesis 3:15. When verse 9 refers to Noah as the only ____________ person, not only was he obedient to God but also his family line had not had any inter-demonic relations; therefore, God would use Noah’s family to repopulate the human race. And the book of Jude tells us in verse 6 that these pre-flood demonic angels are chained up for judgment and unable to meddle in the human gene pool again.
Read Hebrews 2:14-18 and discover why Noah’s family line was preserved for our sake?
2. Reread verse 5. What were humans like in Noah’s lifetime? _______ all the time.
Did you know that in Matthew 24:37-39, Jesus said that his Second Coming will be like in the days of __________. This is interesting when we read in Genesis 6:5 that “everything people _________ or _____________was consistently and _________ evil” all the time. When we read news headlines and read about evil in the world, do you think the world will become more evil or less evil as time goes on?
3. Verses 14-17 describe the boat Noah is to build. Did you know the ark was about the size of the Titanic? What is described is not really a _____, but a well-ventilated barge, meant only to float and not to sail anywhere. After all, an ark is a great big _______ or trunk, not a ship; it’s more of a “shoebox” shape of a vessel. The ark was as long as a 30-story building is high, and it was about 75 feet wide and 45 feet high.
4. In verse 18 God tells Noah he will confirm his covenant. Covenant is another word for_________. God was promising Noah that he and his family would be safe inside the boat and that pairs of every kind of ____________ would come too. And that is exactly what happened; so God kept his promise.
5. Read ahead in Genesis 9:12-15 about another covenant God made. This time not just to Noah, but all mankind. God promised never to _________ the earth again. Rainbows existed before the flood because light passing through a water droplet existed before. But water had never come from the ______ before, so a big rainbow in the sky was something they had never seen before and would serve as a dramatic reminder of God’s good ___________.

Dear God,
Even though a lot of people like to _____________, help me to please you instead.
The Ark is an illustration of Salvation:
And the Lord shut him in: Noah did not have to shut the door on anyone’s salvation; God did it. After the same pattern, it is never our job to disqualify people from salvation. We let God shut the door. God kept the door open until the last possible minute, but there came a time when the door had to shut. When the door is open, it is open, but when it is shut, it is shut. Jesus is He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens (Revelation 3:7). -David Guzik
What other spiritual illustrations do you draw from Noah’s life & the Flood?
Reread Genesis 8:20-22. What is the first thing Noah did upon leaving the ark and why?
However, not long after his sacrifice, Noah, now a farmer, gets drunk. His drunkenness doesn’t result in godly behavior for himself or his son. As the world begins again, we see, once again man’s God given free will interfering with holiness and godly behavior. Can you relate to Noah’s inconsistency?
Read Romans 7:14-25
a. How does Paul address this problem?
b. How is our struggle with sin different from Noah’s?
