8-19-13 “Hurry It Along”
1 John 5:12
Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life.

2 Peter 3:3-5 says:
Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.” They deliberately forget that God made the heavens by the word of his command..

This is what people who do not “have God’s Son,” and, therefore, do not “have life” think. They think to themselves, “Where is Jesus?” And the are forgetting, that is putting out of their minds on purpose, to ignore the One True and Living God.

Sinners know they are sinning. But Psalm 94:3-7 perfectly describes what’s going on with them:
How long, O Lord?
How long will the wicked be allowed to gloat?
How long will they speak with arrogance?
How long will these evil people boast?
They crush your people, Lord,
hurting those you claim as your own.
They kill widows and foreigners
and murder orphans.
“The Lord isn’t looking,” they say,
“and besides, the God of Israel doesn’t care.”

They’ve convinced themselves that God isn’t looking and that God doesn’t care.

But 2 Peter 3:8-9 perfectly describes what’s really going on with God:
But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.

God just wants everyone to be saved, that’s all! He doesn’t want anyone to die in their sins. And those people on their way to that fate have completely misunderstood God. He does care, he is watching, they are not getting away with sinning. He’s hoping they’ll repent. Instead, they use their time to continue perfecting their practice of sin.

Here’s where Believers come in. What if we share our faith and show our faith so much that everyone repents. Jesus would be able to come back today!

Since everything around us is going to be destroyed (when judgment comes)...what holy and godly lives you should live, looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along. (2 Peter 3:11-12)

Hurry it along! Share Jesus more!!!

Dear God,
I pray for the people I love that constantly deceive themselves thinking you are not watching or that you are not real. They don’t have life because they do not believe in your Son. Please continue to give me opportunities to share the Good News of Jesus with them and to live in such a way that would direct even strangers to you. I love you and praise you and pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
