What should I do today?
Micah 6:8 NLT
No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good,
and this is what he requires of you:
to do what is right, to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God.
What is God’s will for me in the new year? What is God’s will for me for today? What is God’s will for me right this second?
Do what is right - Does what I’m about to do or compliment something Jesus would say or do?
Love mercy - Not only generously have mercy for everyone, but also constantly remember the mercy Jesus pours out on me.
Walk humbly with your God - I am not God’s peer. Today, there is no decision that needs to be made immediately; there is always time to take a moment and consult him. Acting without permission and asking forgiveness later is not a humble relationship on my part.
These may seem like the theoretical will of God for my life, but it’s actually his expressed will that will actually reveal God’s very specific will for me as confirmed by Jesus’ promise in Matthew 6:33... Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
Dear God,
Thank you that you have all I need today. Thank you for sharing your expressed and specific will for my life. I love your will and your ways and your promises and thank you in Jesus’ name, amen.
