JOY to the World!
John 15:9-11
“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love.  When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.  I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!”

This passage clearly states how to fill the world with joy. Here's what we need to know:

I have loved you even as the Father has loved me... Jesus loves me.

Remain in my love... He wants me to love him too.

When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love... I show my love for him when I obey him.

I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy... Yesterday at church, Rob was teaching from this passage, and he said that Jesus isn’t telling us what to do because he died on the cross for our sins and wants to demand our appreciation for it. Rob said that would be like a dad giving his daughter a twenty dollar bill for a trip to the mall and saying, “Remember how hard I worked for this money when you shop with your friends today.” No, daddies say, “Here’s a twenty, have a good time!” Jesus wants to fill me with joy not guilt. And he knows that the way to have joy is to love him and obey him because he has joy and those are the things he did for our Heavenly Father.

Yes, your joy will overflow... And he doesn’t want me to have a little bit of joy ($20 dollars worth). He wants me to have A LOT of joy!!!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for your words. You give insight and wisdom and LIFE! Thank you for being concerned about my joy! Thank you for your willing sacrifice that makes me part of your family. Thank you that you do not want me to wallow in guilt and shame, but you want me to be full of joy. And I love the joy you give. Thank you so much and I pray in your name, amen.
