Merely Speaking...
Psalm 33:4-6 NLT
For the word of the Lord holds true,
and we can trust everything he does.
He loves whatever is just and good;
the unfailing love of the Lord fills the earth.
The Lord merely spoke,
and the heavens were created.
He breathed the word,
and all the stars were born.
This Psalm makes this declaration about God - we can trust everything he does & whatever he ever does is good. And then it goes on to explain why. It is because God is the one who merely spoke, and the heavens were created. There are many famous people who have done FAR less and fans will faithfully follow them anywhere! But God does more with just his Word than any person could ever accomplish in a lifetime.
Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. (Genesis 1:3-4)
If I “merely speak,” nothing happens unless I force something to happen, and even then it will be a very limited thing. Same for every other person I know. But God makes unlimited, never before imagined things happen, and what he makes happen is good!
1 Corinthians 2:9 No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. (Romans 8:28)
Dear God,
Thank you for giant, massive reminders everywhere that what you make is good. Thank you for your creative imagination that is bigger than my troubles and for letting me put my hope in you. I love you! Amen.
