Psalm 33:12
What joy for the nation whose God is the Lord, whose people he has chosen as his inheritance.
The picture I have for the future of my country is similar to what happened in 2 Kings 22. A young king dusts off the book that his nation was founded on. I bet that one day in the distant future some young Americans will actually read the Constitution for themselves again and not be able to even comprehend why our nation would have strayed so far from its principles over the years.
At least I hope that happens. And I wish it would happen sooner than later.
What causes mankind to enjoy the blessings of a good thing and then after a while seek to willingly and deliberately destroy it?
As always, it is SUPER important to remember Ephesians 2:22. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil--the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.
We have a real Enemy who never takes a vacation from deceiving hearts and minds. He is “the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.” Evidently, the seemingly educated among our leadership are people who refuse God. They must be attributing the blessings accompanied by living in this country to something else; the result is loss of freedom, loss of privacy, and the devaluation of life, and imminent danger.
Satan is tricky. He certainly didn’t accomplish this overnight, but he sure has been successful.
This morning I was reading Psalm 42 and verses 9-11 say,
“O God my rock,” I cry, “Why have you forgotten me? Why must I wander around in grief, oppressed by my enemies?”
Their taunts break my bones. They scoff, “Where is this God of yours?”
Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God!
If my status is grief and oppression, the key is to keep putting my hope in God. Just praise Him for what He has already done. He is my Savior who is completely unaffected by the schemes of “the commander of the powers in the unseen world.” And NO one can take away what I believe.
God bless America! Land that I love! Stand beside her and guide her through the night with the LIGHT from above. From the mountains to the prairies, to the oceans white with foam...God bless America - my home, sweet, home... FOR NOW!
Dear God,
Thank you for the freedoms I enjoy by your power and your will. Man didn’t give it to me and people can’t take it away. Thank you for protecting us and keeping us safe. Thank you for our nation’s servants, and may each one be convicted today to turn their hearts towards you as our Founding Fathers truly did intend. I love you and praise you, for YOU are my hope! Amen.
