Acts 20:24
But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.
What’s the meaning of life? Have a restored relationship with God! (2 Corinthians 5:18-21)
What’ the purpose of my life? Tell others the meaning of life! (Finish the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus - the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.)
That’s why Believers are encouraged in Ephesians 5:15-17 to make the most of every opportunity to share the Good News about God’s wonderful grace. Be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
Understand what the Lord wants you to do... He wants me to finish the work he assigned us.
Otherwise, the Believer’s life is meaningless (worth nothing to us) unless we use this life (and every opportunity presented) to share the Good News about the wonderful grace of God!
It really is GOOD NEWS!
I can share with people who don’t know about God’s grace and how they can get relief from their guilt and forgiveness from their sins. I can share with Believers to reminding ourselves that the reason we’re Christians is that we not only get relief from Jesus’ life, but we, in fact, get to live HIS life! His GRACE continually and constantly is available to Believers as well. We fill our hearts up with how much we love and appreciate what Jesus has done, and he is able to seep out of us! That is how we are able to follow Jesus’ marching orders for us to share the Good News of God’s grace. (Matthew 28:19-20)
And THAT is my very purpose for existence, AND it is, indeed, the Meaning of Life.
Dear God,
Thank you for revealing your purpose for our lives here. It’s not only for the joy of preparation of being with you for eternity, thanks to what Jesus has done, but also for me to share with others - Believers and unbelievers alike. Help me to encourage one group and inform the other. Help me today to take advantage of every opportunity I get today to share your unfathomable grace to both groups. I love you and thank you and pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
