What a Fool Believes
Psalm 14:1
Only fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good!
It really is foolish to make the assumption that there is no God. It defies all logic and common sense. Like Ray Comfort says, a building is standing proof that there was a build-er who built it. Believing a tree just magically grew is a fairy tale called Jack and the Beanstalk. Creation is far too intricate and detailed for it to be the product of chance. My hairdo in the mornings is a product of chance, and it’s nothing to behold. Creation indicates there is a Creator. We make that assumption with every single work of art, and not giving God, the most ingenious Artist of all, any acknowledgment or recognition is absurd.
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. (Romans 1:20-22)
God invented the whole world, and people invent ways to deny it. Foolishness.
They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good... But what about the atheist who works for the Peace Corps? Not one of them does good? Well, the Bible says to work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. (Colossians 3:23) If one doesn’t even acknowledge God, then how can one work for him? If I’m not working willingly for God, then for whom do I work? Myself? That’s selfishness (or self-full-ness). Other people? Isn’t that called slavery (not freedom)?
But God wants me to be FREE in every way – free from sin and free from others. And he makes me free and anyone else who has sense enough to acknowledge him. Give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace. (Romans 6:13-14)
Dear God,
I love your GRACE! I love you who are. I love you so much. I love that you have not allowed me to be the fool because you have made your existence so incredibly obvious through all creation that I can confidently acknowledge who you are. I love you and praise you and pray for my friends and family who still make a foolish practice of denying your obvious and wonderful existence. Help them to find you today in Jesus name I pray, amen.
