Wonderful Frogs
Isaiah 25:1
O Lord, I will honor and praise your name, for you are my God. You do such wonderful things! You planned them long ago, and now you have accomplished them.

You do such wonderful things! This is my experience from putting my hope and trust in the One, True, and Living God – He does do wonderful things.

He’s done wonderful things for everyone. Let’s start with Creation. We’ve been watching Planet Earth II lately at our house, and the stuff God has come up with in nature is astounding. There’s a tiny glass frog living in the forest whose back looks like the clutch of eggs he guards so that wasps will poke at him instead of the eggs. Then, he kicks them away with his back legs. It was both amazing and hilarious to see. The show, of course, doesn’t attribute that amazing camouflage to God, but I do. God took his time dreaming up some amazing colors, defense mechanisms, and interesting looking creatures. He knew one day cameras & technology would allow people access to previously unseen things. And can everyone really attribute this amazing, intricate, little glass frog to the time and luck of evolution? People watching that show might be thinking, “Isn’t nature wonderful?” What they’re really saying is, “Isn’t God wonderful!”

He’s done wonderful things just for me too. And YOU! It’s healthy for us to list as many as we can remember. The One who took his time doing neat things for a tiny frog certainly will continue doing neat things for those who love and trust him.

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
    and no mind has imagined
what God has prepared
    for those who love him.”

(1 Corinthians 2:9)

Dear God,
Thank you for that little frog reminding me how creative, intelligent, and amazing you are! Thank you that you don’t think like people think. Your frogs are much better than any frog I could imagine! Your way through life for me is equally amazing. Thank you that I can live in the creativity of your kindness, patience and love instead of the fear and dread in which regular people live. I love you and thank you for the wonderful things you do – too many and too personal to list here – but THANK YOU! And I pray and thank you in Jesus’ name, amen.
